I am dedicating this page to seemingly one of the most popular shopping experiences when on holiday abroad. I’ve travelled a bit and have to say this shopping trend is thriving in Tunisia and China, two of the places I have visited and are probable done just as much in other countries. This is of course the selling of replica designer handbags.
These replicas aren’t of the same quality as the originals but only someone with a close-up view will be able to tell. When in Tunisia we went to the market and most things sold there were replicas. Not just bags but sunglasses, shoes and various other things. The people selling them would try and convince you the were genuine but I can pretty much guarantee that any bag being sold for the equivalent of £40 with a Chanel name on it isn’t genuine.
In all honesty the quality there was top notch. I looked and couldn’t tell the difference, they even had the dust covers and the Chanel card but you know that for that price they aren’t genuine. Most women will agree though that it’s more a case of being seen with a designer bag than knowing whether it’s real or not. Mostly it is for show and as long as your friends think its real then that’s great.
While in China I noticed the same flourishing market. While checking over the one stall I noticed he sold two Coach bags, one Chanel and a Gucci bag, this was in the space of about five minutes. Admittedly the quality wasn’t quite as good as in Tunisia but the prices there were even cheaper. The Chanel went for £25 and having looked at a similar bag on Ebay since which sold for £175 I decided that it most definitely wasn’t real. The thing is it is quite hard to spot a fake and most of the women over there were probably buying thinking or even hoping it was real, the others probably didn’t care.
